The brave men and women who have served our country deserve our deepest gratitude, and St. Clair County is taking a fantastic initiative to show their appreciation. The St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting a series of Veterans Appreciation Cruises throughout the summer, offering a unique and memorable way to honor local heroes.
The first of these cruises set sail on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. Veterans from St. Clair County, along with one guest each, are invited to join this special afternoon on the water. It’s a chance to relax, enjoy the scenery, and celebrate the service and sacrifice of those who have kept our nation safe.
A Cruise Designed for Veterans
These cruises are specifically designed with veterans in mind. The limited number of attendees ensures a comfortable and personalized experience. It’s an opportunity to connect with fellow veterans, share stories, and forge new bonds. Whether you served in Vietnam, the Gulf War, or a different conflict, this cruise offers a space to connect with those who understand the unique experiences of military service.
A Celebration on the Water
The cruise sets sail from 102 Huron Ave in Port Huron, Michigan, at 5:00 PM. Before departure, there’s a chance to mingle and check in at the dock at 4:30 PM. Ample parking is available nearby, making it convenient for veterans to attend.
As the boat glides across the water, veterans can take in the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding area. Imagine the cool summer breeze carrying the sounds of laughter and conversation, punctuated by the gentle lapping of waves against the hull. It’s a chance to unwind, de-stress, and simply enjoy the beauty of the moment.
More Than Just a Cruise: A Heartfelt Thank You
The Veterans Appreciation Cruise is more than just a scenic boat ride. It’s a heartfelt expression of gratitude from the St. Clair County community to the veterans who have served our country.
The cruise is made possible through a grant from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency CVSF Grant. This program acknowledges the importance of supporting veterans and their families, and the St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs is putting these funds to good use by creating a memorable and meaningful experience for local heroes.
Don’t Miss Out: Celebrate Our Veterans
Space is limited for these cruises, so veterans are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible. With three additional cruises scheduled for July 17th, August 7th, and August 21st, there are multiple opportunities to participate.
Whether you’re a veteran yourself or a family member who wants to show your support, this is an event not to be missed. It’s a chance to celebrate the service of our veterans, create lasting memories, and show our appreciation for the sacrifices they’ve made.
So, mark your calendars, spread the word to fellow veterans, and get ready to set sail for an afternoon of appreciation on the beautiful waters surrounding St. Clair County. Let’s come together as a community to honor our heroes and express our deepest gratitude for their service.
